TypeIt4Me overview
TypeIt4Me is a text expander that replaces your personal shorthand abbreviations with the longer snippets of content they represent, as you type. It works in almost all applications, not just one.
Any time you enter text in your Mac by typing it at the keyboard, TypeIt4Me can help you do it faster and more accurately. First you define a number of abbreviations and the full texts or picture(s) that they represent, then you watch the Mac expand them on the fly as you continue typing.
The purchase price is a one-time fee, not a recurring subscription.
What’s new in version 7.1
- There’s a new setting to stop the main TypeIt4Me window opening on launch.
- “New Predefined Set” has been added to the TypeIt4Me menu, for increased discoverability.
- There are several new predefined date formats to choose from when inserting a dynamic date in a snippet.
- Fixed a bug that would add an unwanted carriage return after expanding a prompt snippet.
- When TypeIt4Me is in the Dock but the main window is not open, a single click on the Dock icon will now open the window; you no longer have to long-press on the icon and select “Show TypeIt4Me” from the menu.
- Fixed a bug that would cause the TypeIt4Me icon to reappear in the Dock despite “Don’t Show App Icon” being selected in Settings.
- When the “Show in Menu Bar” app icon setting is selected, you can now choose whether the TypeIt4Me icon should also show temporarily in the Dock while the main app window is open.
- Fixed a bug that could prevent adding multiple fill-in options / prompts to a rich formatted snippet.
- All options in the View menu for sorting snippets should now work correctly and the chosen sort order for each set will also be reflected in the point-and-click menu.
- Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause the snippet formatting popover menu to close immediately when opened.
- Improved compatibility with WhatsApp.
- Fixed a bug affecting nested snippets that contain rich formatting and / or pictures; formatting and pictures are now correctly retained on expansion.
- The position cursor special function now works correctly in rich formatted snippets.
- Fixed a bug where abbreviations would remain when expanding snippets in File > Save dialogs.
- When TypeIt4Me is set to show only in the Dock, selecting “New Set” or “New Snippet” from the menu now correctly opens the main TypeIt4Me window.
- Fixed a bug where the wrong fill-in option / prompt would be renamed when saving changes if more than one fill-in option / prompt with the same name was present in the snippet.
- Fixed bugs that would result in the wrong popover preview content being shown when quickly moving the pointer over adjacent fill-in options / prompts in a rich formatted snippet.
- When you delete a snippet while in “Show duplicates” view it no longer erroneously reverts to showing the full snippet list, so you can continue to view, edit and delete duplicates.
- When adding a “Don’t expand in” or “Only expand in" rule to a set, Safari now correctly appears in the list of apps you can apply the rule to.

TypeIt4Me is the original text expander, way before autotype and all the other imitations. I've been using it since the early 90's. The developer is very responsive, the price very reasonable and the app itself superb.

Used this app for years now and am generally quite satisfied with it. Sometimes it seems your prefs are lost somewhere and you have to reactivate your collection from database, by just clicking on it, no problem if you know that you have to do that. But customer service told me quickly how to deal with that. A recent issue is that the program is not starting any more when I switch on my computer, it's presence in my menu list is only accidentally. So, when busy and trying to use your favorite abbreviation, nothing happens. You have to manually start the program and then it works. Cumbersome. Has been like that for a couple of months now and the recent update doesn't change that. It only happens to Typeit4Me, none of the many other start up apps are affected by this.

Hello, I am a hooman and I am not a fake review, my dog can testify.
I just bought aText...seriously, it's the price of 2 coffees here in Australia. It has saved me countless hours of monotonous text entry. It does the same tihing as Typinator, Texpander, TextExpander and Rocket Typist. I have Rocket Typist included with my Setapp subscription and I could not cope with how unreliable it is.
I have noticed a few bugs here and there with aText, so wish the updates would be more frequent, but otherwise a solid text replacement that is very lightweight and won't dent your wallet.
